Upon Returning

Got a lot coming for y’all. Just got in from the airport at midnight and am going over my e-mail from the last week.
I had to comment on one thing immediately.
This falls into the “For God’s sake….” catagory.
I missed the whole affair.
Last Thursday, during his press conference on health care, President Obama weighed in on the arrest of African-American Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, saying a Cambridge police officer “acted stupidly” when he arrested Gates for disorderly conduct.
I briefly caught the replay as I passed the television on Friday . I remember thinking that it was an odd thing for the President of the United States to say. I mean nothing says health care more than a black radical getting arrested for disorderly conduct.
Apparently later that day the leader of the free world intoned, “In my choice of words, I unfortunately, I think, gave an impression that I was maligning the Cambridge police department or Sergeant Crowley ( the officer who arrested Gates) specifically.”
Barry admitted he should have “calibrated” his words differently. He said that he had spoken to Mr. Crowley by telephone, and that he was inviting him and Mr. Gates to the White House for a beer.
So how’s that post racial thing going for you?
My only real comment is, given that 4th of July hot dog love fest with the Iranians worked out so resoundingly, this should solve that whole racial divide business, although if it degenerates into a keg party, the cities will be burning in a week.
Welcome back.
